A Gift from the Duke of Norfolk

The Norfolk Centre was established for the people of Arundel in 1967 by Bernard Marmaduke Fitzalan-Howard, 16th Duke of Norfolk. As one of the country’s most distinguished noblemen, the Duke held the hereditary title of Earl Marshal and was responsible for organising significant national ceremonies. These included the funerals of King George VI and Sir Winston Churchill, the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and the investiture of Prince Charles as Prince of Wales.

Motivated by his commitment to public service and the well-being of his local community, the Duke commissioned the construction of The Norfolk Centre as a place for people in Arundel to gather, host events and support one another.
